The Winter Tree

I saw you there whimping, cold, and homeless
I opened my arms to you
You've placed your nest, laid your eggs
But you never looked at me did you?

Now the bark is old, my leaves have fallen
Glitters of white begin to fall
You've gathered your children and left me alone in the cold
Sigh. I did my purpose after all.
